it is insane how fucking tiny these buttons are did they not like. consider the concept of UI scaling like at all. did they not consider what theyd do if someone had a big monitor. what is this shit
why asre there two post buttons. why do i get little numbers next to ‘home’ and 'following’ when btoh are giving me the exact same information. why is it that when you open the account view you have the exact same information on both sides of your screen. why is it that the activity popup obscuires the dashboard now instead of the 1000000 miles of empty space on my god damn desktop. did they not consider the concept of UI scaling at all?????
when i first saw people p[ostp about this i thought maybe they were overreacting because they hate twitter and change but like. whatever you think abotu the concept of 'putting all this shit on the left side of your screen’ as a bold UI innovation or whatever in concept this shit is like. just straight up unfinished. like i legitimately dont understand how this was considered ready to roll out to users
why does the activity popup open on the ONE part of my screen i DONT want to be obscured when im using tumblr dot com!!
no seriously why is this information displayed twice one inch apart. im not being snarky when i say this genuinely just seems actually unfinished
dont talk to me or my three (3) 'activity’ buttons that show up when you’re already on the activity page ever again
FYI if your employer does this, if they have done it for a long time especially, you and your coworkers could be owed huge amounts of unpaid wages and it would be an easy suit if there is a paper trail like this and your employer is placing strict requirements on your behavior while not at work. Employment lawyers generally work on contingency. Just food for thought.
I think if a studio exec says they want to force you to starve to death so you’ll be made to accept garbage wages, you should crush them in a hydraulic press incredibly slowly
Like the fact that rich people have gotten to the point where they think they can just be like “oh yeah I’m literally trying to kill you” without fear of repercussions is beyond infuriating. They need to know what it feels like to be beaten to death by hammers.
Spent this week on making a bunch of faux oldschool anime screencaps. Had a blast making these, I’m especially happy with the background in the third one. I’ll probably keep making these, so look forward to more of these in the future!
At first Netflix said, come write for us. We’ll save your cancelled shows and write about whatever niche story you want. Our algorithm says people will watch it!
Then a few years later they said, regardless of our promises or contract obligations we are cancelling shows after two seasons without telling anyone. Turns out no matter how loved a show is, we get less subscriptions after the second season.
How many subscriptions did we bring you? Netflix won’t say.
So writers started writing two season shows. Just give us two seasons, Netflix. Like you promised.
Then Netflix said, oops sorry! Turns out your show didn’t premiere at #1 and the views in the first day weren’t what we wanted so we’re cancelling your second season.
What were the numbers? How many people watched our show? Netflix doesn’t say.
Then, they did something extra special. They started taking shows and splitting their first season into two halves. Inside Job was not two seasons. It was one season split in half.
Oops! Sorry! The second half of your first season didn’t do as well as the first half, so now your show is cancelled!
Why? How many people? How much money? These companies are making cash hand over fist and they refuse to tell people the truth: people loved your show. Loved it. But some corpo exec wanted an infinite money making machine. Do you know how long shows are in production for before you watch them? Years. Like, 5+, even 10+ years. And Netflix gives it less than a week before they decide whether you’re getting cancelled.
somehow instead of saying “as a treat”, I’ve started using the phrase “for morale”, as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
I’m not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me
The new layout it a whole mess. Thankfully Xkit can already help with a bunch of this! I’m sure it’ll give more options soon.
Vanilla Tumblr: (I have marked in red what can be removed. The tabs can be set not to stick, so you will really only see them at the top of your dash. Empty box on the left for hidden notifications and shop sparkle, i just didn’t have any. I’m EU so no Live for me).
I want to draw something SO gay and sapphic and hot and tender that it shocks ppl 😤
Okay but I DO remember in middle school when I saw this sapphic drawing of two girls with glow in the dark lipstick and in the dark you could see everywhere they had kissed. In the drawing I think they were just in a dark setting holding hands, maybe at like a party or park at night or something I can’t remember.
One of them had like really sweet and loving kisses in really innocent places and the it was so sapphic and cute AND THE OTHER GIRL HAD LIPSTICK MARKS EVERYWHERE LIKE EVEN ON HER V-LINE AND i think thats why im bisexual its all the artistic community’s fault
Anyways i have to search my old phone for that art it was fucking incredible I ALSO THINK ITS A GOOD CONCEPT FOR ARTISTS especially for characters who differ in personality showing the contrast in how they show physical affection towards each other VERY COOL
omg?? this sounds SO cute I need to see it,, I also love the idea of it being hidden in the dark in a way it adds layers to the sapphicness
Whenever a person walks out of the accessible bathroom stall and sees me, a wheelchair user, sitting outside waiting for the stall, they often apologize.
In the beginning, I said, “No worries!” Because I was too scared to be confrontational.
Then I started saying nothing.
But after a while, I realized that some disabled people may be a portion of the people that apologize. And I never want to make an invisibly disabled person feel bad for using accommodations that they need. There are many different reasons a disabled person would need the stall!
(It is tiring waiting for ages while someone uses the stall to change, or do their makeup. It is not annoying for anyone who needs the stall to use it.)
So, I’ve decided to start saying, “That’s okay! I believe every disabled person should be able to use the accessible stall!”
Because then, if they are invisibly disabled, hopefully that will put them at ease.
And if the person isn’t disabled, it will remind them that the accessible stall is not just “the big stall.”
I think the thing that drives me the most batshit about the medical fatphobia conversation is that the burden of proof feels so exactly backwards. Just from an obvious best practices standpoint???
Things like intentional malnourishment, intentionally incapacitating vital organs through surgery, denial of potentially lifesaving medical care until those things are done, etc.
Those are all pretty extreme. The kinds of things it feels like a “first do no harm” system should have a lot of solid evidence for before recommending or implementing them.
But they’re so bog standard and accepted and everyone from doctors to your own family will look at you like you’re a flat-earther when you suggest maybe we shouldn’t be defaulting to that.
“We have proved there is an association between larger bodies and certain illnesses!”
Okay, have you proved the fat caused the illnesses?
“No.”
Have you proved people have better long term outcomes from losing weight?
“We can’t.”
Right. And why is that again?
“Well to measure that, we’d have to compare the health outcomes of three populations - thin people, fat people, and fat people who became thin through weight loss.”
So do that.
“But there actually are not enough people who became thin through weight loss and kept it off for us to do a long term study on how that impacts their health. The sample size is too small.”
So you can’t prove that changing fat people to thin people would change their health outcomes to those of thin people.
Because you can’t prove that fat people can become thin in the first place.
But you’re still telling them to do that as your primary prescription.
Even when the recommended and unproven methods to do so are potentially very dangerous.
“Yeah, but”
What if as a doctor I found out pale people get skin cancer more often than darker skin people, so to prevent skin cancer, started recommending tanning to my palest patients? Would that be good health care?
“Don’t be ridiculous. That’s not what we’re doing.” Isn’t it though???
I’m dropping the bit. I’m losing my shit. I get so used to living in bizarro land but sometimes I just want to shake everyone. Calories are bad science! They are nearly meaningless! The BMI is bad science! It’s nearly meaningless! The presumptions made in weight loss studies are so bad!!! And we’ve known this for decades!!! And we just keep!!! Ruining lives!!! Why are we so invested in this clearly unfounded ideology about bodies???
